The island of Ireland is located in the north-western part of Europe. The island is divided into two unequal parts. The major is Republic of Ireland and the minor, covering one-sixth of the territory, is Northern Ireland – the part of the United Kingdom. Ireland or the Emerald Isle is surrounded by hundreds of other different-sized islands. Ireland is separated from the Great Britain by the Irish Sea. The capital of the country is Dublin.
The terrain of Ireland is represented by rugged hills and low mountains, but it is mostly plain. On the west coast there are sea cliffs. The Gulf Stream and the Atlantic ocean influence the climate of Ireland, that’s why it is of temperate maritime type. Preparing for the journey, don’t forget to pack the umbrella, a pair of waterproof shoes and a raincoat, because the weather is rather rainy despite the season.
